Sculptra® Injections for Volume Loss

Although it is often grouped with other dermal filler products, Sculptra® is unique in that it is not injected to “fill” skin depressions, but to trigger collagen-building fibroblasts in the skin. In essence, Sculptra stimulates your skin to produce collagen. The new collagen then helps to restore facial volume and natural fullness that smooths out wrinkles and folds over time. The aesthetic treatment specialists at the Beverly Hills Center for Plastic & Laser Surgery can use Sculptra injections for non-invasive cosmetic enhancement as part of your personalized treatment protocol.

Sculptra is a synthetic material containing poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). It is not made from human or animal sources and is completely biocompatible and biodegradable. PLLA has been widely used for over 25 years in medicine to create dissolvable stitches and other surgical products. The body metabolizes PLLA into lactic acid, which is already found naturally in your body. This means that Sculptra injections are safe and as close to natural as any filler substance used for cosmetic enhancements.

Boost Collagen for a More Natural Cosmetic Enhancement

Sculptra is often called a collagen stimulator instead of a filler, because of how it works to produce a natural substance to provide the necessary additional volume. Many patients may prefer this more natural approach to cosmetic treatment for anti-aging. Also, because it stimulates a natural reaction instead of artificially plumping your skin, results are not instant but seen over time. This also means that your results should last longer, up to two years.

Most patients are given three Sculptra injections over three to four months to allow time for new collagen to be produced. We can explain more when you call or schedule a consultation online with the Beverly Hills Center for Plastic & Laser Surgery. Sculptra can also be used with other cosmetic treatments as part of a comprehensive skincare protocol.
